IN MEMORIAM

Special Message – In Memory of Special Agent Debra Dios, WIFLE Lifetime Member

January 5, 2009

WIFLE is deeply saddened to learn of the  passing of Special Agent Debra Dios of the Philadelphia Field Division of the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives.  Debra was one of the original lifetime members of WIFLE, having joined in 2000.  Special Agent Dios passed away on New Year’s Day after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

Debra entered on duty with ATF on February 10, 1991, in the San Francisco Field Division. She worked in downtown San Francisco until 1995 and then was reassigned to the San José Field Office. She was a very capable undercover agent and soon focused her career on working as a certified explosives specialist. In 1999, Debra transferred to Bureau Headquarters, where she worked as a project officer and program manager in the Explosives Technology Branch. In June 2005, Debra returned to the field and served as a senior agent in the Philadelphia Field Division.

Debra worked tirelessly to reduce violent crime and protect the public. She was a true civil servant who understood the importance of public service. Up until her final days, Debra continued to carry out work assignments and make a difference. She was an exemplary model of dedication and incredible strength. Debra will be greatly missed by her friends and colleagues throughout ATF, many of whom gave her tremendous support during her illness.

A memorial service will be held on Sunday, January 11, 2009, at 4:00 p.m., at the James Nelson Rigby Funeral Home, 1 West Baltimore Avenue, Media, Pennsylvania 19063, telephone number: (610) 566-4526.
