Announcing WIFLE's Tenth Annual Leadership Training and Annual Awards Program

Dear Federal Executive:

WIFLE, a not-for-profit organization working to promote the value that women bring to law enforcement, will hold its Tenth Annual Leadership Training Conference June 16 - 18, 2009, at the Westin La Paloma in Tucson, Arizona.  The program will focus on leadership skills necessary to embrace and facilitate change in all ranks of government as well as an examination of key investigative issues faced by federal law enforcement.

We are excited about this year's Leadership Training especially because WIFLE is celebrating its tenth anniversary.  WIFLE has several goals including furthering the recruitment, retention and promotion of women in federal law enforcement occupations, and the continued development of an information sharing and support network.  The annual conference provides the opportunity to further these goals in a collaborative learning environment.  Plans are underway to partner with local area police departments to integrate our counterparts and provide for a greater networking opportunity for all law enforcement.  Last year over 700 people from the federal, state, local, and international law enforcement communities attended our conference.

Two significant training sessions are available this year.  First, a pre-conference session on Monday, June 15, "At the Border," hosted by the U.S. Border Patrol, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, is being offered.  This training session provides an 'up close and personal' visit to a strategic Border Patrol facility.  WIFLE requests that agencies allow a flexible travel day on Sunday, June 14, so attendees can avail themselves of this special event.  Second, "Firearms Training for Women - Practical Exercise," will be scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday, June 17 and 18, at a local police firing range.  The conference registration fee is $475.00 up until April 30, 2009, and $525.00 after that date.  Registration is completed online at www.wifle.org.  Enclosed is a registration form that can be locally duplicated.  The complete training program and details will be posted on the website.

WIFLE’s annual Awards Program opens for nominations today.  The awards are presented during the WIFLE Awards Banquet, an exceptionally popular conference highlight.  Included are copies of the forms, also available online, for your use in nominating deserving employees for honor and recognition

The WIFLE Annual Leadership Training is considered to be a premier event.  I would like to personally invite you to our opening ceremony on Tuesday, June 16, 2009, 8:30 a.m., if your schedule permits.  We look forward to meeting you and your agency's personnel at this year's conference.

Sincerely,

Margaret M. Moore

President
