Topic:  Threat Assessment and Agent Safety: When Investigators Become Targets
This presentation will discuss the principles of threat assessment, the development of the NCIS Threat Management Unit, and the application of threat assessment techniques to investigator safety situations. The behavioral-based threat assessment model is useful for investigations where there is a risk of escalating violence, such as stalking, workplace violence, domestic violence, and school violence. Investigators are not immune to workplace violence and stalking as they too may become targets of these perpetrators. The presenters will provide case studies and practical threat assessment information for audience members to use in their investigations and for their own safety.
